Holiday Traditions

At holiday traditions there were many foods. One of the foods was Charoset. Jewish people have it on Passover which is a holiday that is not really a celebration, but its more of a remembrance. Charoset is made of apples and nuts mostly, and it is very delicious. It represents the stuff that held the bricks together that the Jews had to make. The next food is a Passover Seder plate. The Seder is a dinner that is also a service. Jews have dinner and do the service at the same time. The Charoset is part of the Seder plate. The last food that I looked at was a Greek food. It was some bread stuff with some Greek dip.

Blog #12- Website Redo

Edited Version
Original Website

The original website had several problems. The first problem was the color scheme. There were far too many colors and they did not work together. I fixed this problem by changing the many colors to a monochromatic color scheme. There is different shades of gray. The new colors keep it simple and clean. The next problem was the column organization. There was no organization for the columns and it made it very difficult to read. I solved this problem by organizing the columns into three even columns. This made the website look much easier to read and understand. Another problem was the high amount of little images. I fixed that problem by having only two pictures that made sense to the website. I also changed the headings to make it easier to understand what the reader is reading about.

Blog Post #11- Art App

My favorite app is Photoshop express. In order to edit this picture on Photoshop express, I had to do several things. First I had to click select photo and then press edit. After that I went to effects and made the picture vibrant. Then I made the picture black and white by going to the little icon that looks like a sun. I went to the little icon with the stars and clicked borders and chose vignette. Also, I played around with the contrast. Lastly, I cropped some of the old picture out. This app is a very good app. There are a lot of things you can do on it to edit a picture. I would give this app a 9 out of 10 and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to easily edit a picture.

Blog Post #10- Volunteering

I have volunteered at Memorial Elementary School. Two of my friends and I went there to help out at the halloween dance. We were assigned stations where we had to work at. I had to work at the fake tattoos. I gave little kids fake tattoos where they wanted it. At first there were not many kids who wanted tattoos, but by the middle of he night there were a lot of kids coming over. It became stressful.

When there was no kids who wanted fake tattoos, I would go help either my friends or somewhere that was busy and needed help. Some of the kids were stubborn, but others were cute and sweet. Volunteering for this gave me scholarship points. I volunteered from 6:30 to 9. My friend and I also, wore our halloween costumes.

BlogPost #9 Website Documenting.org

The website Do Something.org's purpose is to get teens to do good stuff offline. It shows all of the causes that teens can do.  The causes are animal welfare, disaster response and relief, discrimination, education, environment, health and fitness, HIV and sexuality, international human rights, poverty, violence and bullying, war, peace and politics. It also gives you options for what you can do to get involved. It shows you what you can do for each cause.  It shows you what cause, with who, where, and how long for getting involved in one of the causes. Then it has their programs.

The overall appearance is pretty good. I like the way the categories are organized because it makes sense. The organization lets me easily know what things are. When I first got to the website, I knew what it was about. I think the colors are contrasted well. The blue and yellow work well together. This website's appearance is okay.

Blog 8- My Favorite Ipad App for Entertainment

My favorite app for entertainment is temple run.  Temple run is fun because you run and you have to jump over things.  You slide under things too.  You try to collect coins.  When you collect coins, you can buy people to run and things that help you get more coins.  It also makes me feel accomplished when I beat my high score or when I earn a lot of coins.  I play this game a lot when I want to relax.

Blog 7- My Favorite Ipad app for Education

My favorite educational app is Noterize.  I like how you can download something from the web or Dropbox.  Also, you can draw or write on the things you import.  If you make a mistake you can erase it.  You can put a text box there.  You can even record your voice into Noterize.  I use Noterize a lot for math and it can be helpful sometimes.  It can be annoying, but most of the time i enjoy using this app for educational purposes.

My favorite Website- Part 2 Comparison of Ipad and Desktop Version

My favorite website is Facebook.  Although, there are a few differences between Facebook on the Ipad and Facebook on the desktop.  On the web browser on the Ipad it looks slightly different from on the computer.  On the Ipad it does not show the chat on the side like it does on the computer.  On the Facebook app, there are even more differences.  On the app, you have to press a button with three lines on it and then it shows you all some options.  Also, when you like something you have to press a little plus button and it is not that way on the desktop.
There are several similarities between them.  The app and the desktop both have a place to click for notifications, friend requests, and messages and they look almost the same.  Also, it shows who is on chat on the side of the page.  There are really no differences between the desktop and Facebook on the browser on the Ipad.  They are set up almost exactly the same.

My Favorite Website

My favorite website is  Facebook.  This is a social networking site.  Some of the features are the apps.  Also, people have their own profile where they can have a profile picture and set their status.  They can be friends with other people on Facebook.  People can be tagged in posts and photos.  It is an interactive site.  It is interactive because people update their statuses and friend other people.  I like this web site because it is interesting to find out what people are doing and it is fun to upload pictures and things like that.  People can also post pictures on their friends wall and write wall posts on their wall. You can chat your friends, too.

Invisible Children

The assembly about Invisible Children was very sad.  It was about the children in Uganda being kidnapped and forced to fight as soldiers because of a horrible civil war.  They are taken by the LRA.  Invisible Children is trying to stop this.  They set up a bill where Joseph Kony is captured, so the war will end and the children in Uganda will not be kidnapped.  In the assembly, they focused on a boy living in central Africa named Tony.  Tony was a live and energetic kid that was living in a Uganda at the time of Africa's problems.  Tony's mother died of HIV and then Tony became an orphan.  Invisible Children kept checking up on Tony and when Tony was older he came to the United States.  He toured with invisible children and shared his story.

Tony toured with a man named Nate.  They grew really close and when Tony went back to Africa, Nate and another woman went and visited him.  They were having the time of their life until Nate was killed because of a bomb.  Nate helped many people in Africa and the U.S.  Now Invisible Children is starting to set up connections in the African villages, so they are able to contact other villages to warn them if their is a possibility of them being invaded.  This assembly was sad and brought tears to my eyes.

Blog Review

austinmahone.blogspot.com

There are several things I like about this blog.  I like that he has some videos and music on it.  He has pictures of himself on the blog and then there are pictures of people following the blog on the side.  I also really like the picture of him and the design at the top of the page.  There is a chat on his blog too that is pretty cool.

There are a few things I would change.  I would change the colors because there is too much black.  I would also have more pictures on there because I think there should be a little bit more.  There should probably be more of his music as well.

Self-Portrait

In the beginning I had no clue what to do for my picture, but then I thought of something.  My self portrait has my Ipad covering my face with a picture of my face on my Ipad.  First someone took a picture of my face.  Then I put the picture in front of my face.  I have only one electronic device in my picture.  When attempting to take it, I had to try to make sure that there was no reflection on the screen of the Ipad.  This was sort of difficult to do because I had to find the right lighting.  I had to go out in the hall, at my desk, and finally going by the window worked.  I also had to make sure that the background was white.  This took a few days to get right.

The World of BHS

I go to BHS. There are a few things that I like about this school. I like some of the teachers, but it depends on if they are nice and how well they teach. I also like the Ipad for some things. A few of the clubs that they have are good, too. Some of the good clubs are the medical careers club and to write love on her arms.

There are a few things that I do not like about this school. I think it starts too early. The school is pretty confusing as well. The large amount of work the teachers give is something I definitely think they should change about BHS.
